Facebook ‘Offer’ Feature- Another Helping Tool For Facebook Marketing
Eight months back Facebook suspended its Facebook deals service/feature which disturbed the companies and businesses on Facebook a little bit. Now once again Facebook has decided to start the service again with some better opportunities for businesses and ease for users. The feature has been rolled back as ‘Offers’. It allows a brand to post their current promotions, discount offers and coupons directly to a user’s (Fan) wall (via newsfeed), by clicking an action button ‘Get Offer’ below the post, an email from Facebook will be sent to the user’s registered Facebook email address with a coupon which can be printed or can be seen on user’s mobile device, user can then redeem the coupon from that business. Currently, only some brand pages are eligible to use this feature as it is in testing mode (as Facebook does with any of its new feature launch).
As Per Facebook, “Facebook rolled out Offers in beta to a handful of clients in the U.S. after announcing it at fMC in February,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement. “Facebook is continuing to roll out the beta to a limited amount of businesses in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Turkey, but it’s not a global roll out. It’s not yet available to additional U.S. businesses.”
The launching text by Facebook is stated below:
“Now, you can get discounts from businesses when they post an offer on their Facebook Page. To claim an offer, all you need to do is click Get Offer from the story anywhere you see it on Facebook.
You’ll start to see offers by Pages you like in your news feed. After you click Get Offer, Facebook will send you an email that you can print off or show on your mobile phone at the business to redeem your discount.”
Creating and offer is an ‘easy to do’ job. It’s free and simple, just Follow the below steps for creating an offer
- Go to your Page
- From the sharing tool at the top of your Page’s timeline, click Offer, Event + and then click Offer
- Type a strong headline for your offer, ex. “Hire 3wOgle’s Website Designing Services and Get the SEO Service Free.”
- Upload a photo for your offer that will stand out in thumbnail size
- Choose to limit the number of claims by clicking Unlimited and selecting a number from the dropdown
- Set an expiration date by clicking today’s date and clicking a different day in the future
- Add terms and conditions of your offer
- Click Preview
- Review what your offer will look like, then click Post

If you want to make changes to your offer when you’re previewing it, click Edit to go back and make changes.
The feature will give the brands and businesses a stiff support in their Facebook marketing tactics and strategies as Offers are a great way to drive new people to your business and to engage your customers. They also encourage people to talk about your Page when your offers are shared between friends. But the brands will have to be little conscious and careful while posting the offer(s) because users don’t like ‘too much posts’ (from their liked pages) on their wall and any such thing can cost brand an “unlike” from a fan. Brands should use this feature to boost their customer engagement with brand by giving them the offers of their need.
On the other hand, from a user’s perspective too many posts from pages can really make them irritate and that’s obvious. Thinking how to avoid seeing offers from spamming pages? That’s quite simple to do, simply unlike that page and all of a sudden all the posts by that page will disappear from your wall.
Another important point (with reference to this feature) to notice is that Facebook might be trying to generate revenue from this business stream and therefore attacking the coupon and online discount services like Groupon and LivingSocial. Well, there is no doubt that Facebook will opt and integrate all those things which will help them in making their user experience better and better and buying Intagram is one of those examples.
How this feature of “offers’ will serve the users and brands, we will see that once it’ll get public. Share your experience with this feature and give us your feedback and opinions in the comments section below. Happy reading J
