Now a day’s Social Media is not just for raising your friend circle and to have a chat for hours with your opposite gender, now it’s more than that. A recent survey in America revealed some amazing and mind wobbling facts. The stats of October 2011 manifested that unemployment rate in the U.S is 9%. The survey was conducted by a recruiting software company over approx 1200 adults who were seeking for a job.
The survey reported that Social media are getting more attraction by the people even for finding their jobs and almost half (in fact more than HALF) of the adults used at least one social networking website to get hired. Among all social websites, Facebook is the most dominant one having the favoritism of 18 million job seekers who have got their job (current active job) via this social media giant. The study gave a unique name of “Super Social” job seeker to the person who have at least 150 contacts on every of its signed up/registered social media accounts.
The exact percentages of mostly used social website are quite astonishing. 78% titled Facebook as their most favorite and reliable job seeking e-forum. While 42% gave credit to Twitter and only 40% people got their jobs via LinkedIn. When the survey was précised to only “Super Social” job seekers the results were far amazing and surprising than ever. 85% of the Super Socials went with Facebook. Regarding those who got their jobs by referral over social media, the percent of users landed to 42% for Facebook, 35% to twitter and only 25% picked up LinkedIn.
The survey proved a long term reliability of the social media for getting a job and the belief and trust that people have on social networking websites. It’s not only U.S where people find their jobs via Facebook, twitter etc. The social media has got an immense value and power in every region and continent of the world which has redefined the term “this world” as a “Global Village”. The thing is that what will be the company owners would be thinking to search for the valuable gems on these social media who can lift up their business to the skies. Who knows that there might be other Steve jobs, bill gates registered on these websites who are waiting for their time and turn to play their part in making a revolution in this I.T world or this Global village as other legendary people did.
